Our Story

Parish History

Sacred Heart of Jesus Church is Peckville's first and only Catholic Parish.

The original church building, located on Main St. in Peckville, was dedicated on Sunday, June 28th, 1942, as the mission church of St Mary's Assumption Church in Jessup, Pa.

Rev. Andrew Kurovsky

Pastor | 570-383-3244

After completing my seminary studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., I was ordained with 9 other priests in 1985. Since then, I have served as an educator, high school principal and pastor throughout the 11-county Diocese of Scranton, as well as in South Jersey. However, I have never been more excited about ministry than I am now, serving with the people of God at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Peckville. From the first time I walked through the doors of our church, I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit in this community of faith whose hallmark is hospitality and welcome. Praise be to Jesus Christ, “my higher power,” for the opportunity he has given me, to Pastor his people in this time and place.
