Pentecost

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Happy Pentecost! Happy Birthday! Happy Confirmation Sunday!

The Holy Spirit has never stopped moving in the Catholic Church! Since it all began on that first Pentecost, we as a church have worked diligently, building up God’s kingdom here on earth. We are the ones responsible for bringing our parish and most especially, those beyond our walls, closer to Christ. We are inflamed by the Spirit of Christ to continue His work here on earth, until that day when we are reunited with Him, with all the saints, and with all those who have gone before us.

It’s not enough to just come to church. The days of “pray, pay and obey”, are long behind us. We are charged by our baptism, and most especially by the coming of the Holy Spirit, to take which has been given to us... this tremendous gift of Pentecost...and to go forth, beyond our circle, beyond the brick and mortar of the round church, and to reach out and to evangelize. We are called to bring others to the table. We are the ones who can make a difference in the lives of those who are marginalized. We are the ones who can take the hands of those who have wandered away from the church and bring them back. We are the ones who need to save our own souls, as well as those of our brothers and sisters. We are responsible for one another. We are one in Christ. We are one in the SPIRIT!!! Happy Pentecost!

Love, Fr. Andrew.
