Live Out the Serenity Prayer

Dear parishioners and friends,

As I've shared with you in the past, we continue this time of
pandemic which changes our lives on a daily basis, and we strive
all the more to live out the first few words of the “Serenity
Prayer”.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference!

While this prayer is recited universally at most 12 step meetings,
it is timeless and applicable to finding peace in our everyday
lives. Today I offer to you the words of Saint Ignatius of Loyola
who prayed similarly so many years before.

“Take Lord and receive all my Liberty, my memory,
my understanding, and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
Whatever I have or hold, you have given me.
I return it all to you and surrender it wholly
to be governed by your will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
and I am rich enough and ask for nothing more.
Amen.”

Love,
Fr. Andrew
